The Membership Application

Complete and return the application to the station. Our Membership team will review it and contact you about options and opportunities. The following screening will take place:
  • Criminal background check
  • Arson background check
  • Driver’s license check
  • Sexual offender registry check
  • Contact personal references

Interview Scheduled

We will conduct a personal interview with prospective candidates within 30 days of receiving your application. During this session, you will:
  • Conduct a station tour
  • Opportunity ask questions
  • Learn more about the department and what we do

Becoming a Member

Once you’ve completed all the steps and are approved by the Membership Committee, we will introduce you as a new Whitesboro Volunteer Fire Department probationary member. New members will receive an orientation and a training schedule. Firefighters must take the mandatory training and enroll in New York State Firefighter 1 course and will be issued:
  • Station key
  • Response pager
  • Protective gear
